About Anacridium moestum (Serville, 1838)

Anacridium moestum reaches an adult body length of 50–90 millimetres (2.0–3.5 in). These are large, slender locusts with a mottled reddish-brown or grey body, and finely speckled green tegmina. Their hind wings are pale blue, with a black band located near the base. Their hind tibiae are purplish. Nymphs, also called hoppers, are yellowish green. The eyes and face of this species have vertical stripes. This species is native and widespread across southern and south tropical Africa. These grasshoppers live on trees or shrubs in grassland habitats that contain acacias.
