About Anacampseros telephiastrum DC.
Anacampseros telephiastrum DC. is a small, branching succulent species that bears loose clusters of leaves 18 millimeters long. Its leaves are brown-green, covered in papillae, and end in tiny pointed tips called mucros. Unlike the related species Anacampseros rufescens, the underside of its leaves is not reddish. This species has relatively few axillary hairs; these hairs or bristles are shorter than the plant’s leaves, and sometimes they are barely visible. Its pink flowers grow on a bracteose inflorescence, and each flower has 30 to 45 stamens. In its natural habitat, Anacampseros telephiastrum occurs alongside several other related Anacampseros species, and it favors specific growing conditions. It grows in areas that are slightly more arid than the habitats where Anacampseros retusa grows. In even more arid locations, it is typically replaced by the related species Anacampseros arachnoides.
