Amsinckia spectabilis is a bristly annual herb that looks similar to other fiddlenecks. Its leaf edges are sometimes lined with fine teeth. It produces coiled inflorescences that hold tubular yellow flowers. These flowers can grow up to 2 centimetres (0.8 inches) long, and measure up to 1.5 centimetres (0.6 inches) wide across the open flower face.
