Amphotis marginata is a beetle species first described by Fabricius in 1781. Adult beetles of this species measure between 3.8 and 5.8 millimeters in length. Based on occurrence records aggregated by GBIF, Amphotis marginata occurs primarily in Europe, with recorded observations ranging from southern Scandinavia down to northern Spain. This species has a symbiotic relationship with the ant Lasius fuliginosus, and as a result, its habitat is located close to the foraging paths of these ants.
