About Amorphophallus dracontioides (Engl.) N.E.Br.

Amorphophallus dracontioides (Engl.) N.E.Br. is a large, fleshy, stemless plant with an overall magenta or olive coloration. It has small olive speckles and a consistently ridged interior. The root of this species has been used medicinally to treat hemorrhoids and to break down venom from stings and bites. In Nigeria, this species has been used as a famine food. It is naturally toxic, so it must be boiled for two full days to neutralize its toxins before consumption.
