About Amoria hunteri (Iredale, 1931)
Amoria hunteri has the largest shell of any species in the genus Amoria. Adult shell length ranges between 90 mm and 190 mm. The shell is solid and fusiform in shape. Its colour pattern is quite variable, with a base colour that may be white, yellowish or pink. The shell surface is very glossy and marbled, marked with reddish or brown zig-zag bands. It also has a small, smooth, pointed conical protoconch and an elongate aperture. This is a marine species that is endemic to Australia, where it lives in deep waters off the coasts of New South Wales and Queensland.
