About Amolops panhai Matsui & Nabhitabhata, 2006
Amolops panhai, commonly called the peninsular torrentfrog, is a species of true frog. It is found in western and peninsular Thailand, as well as in eastern Myanmar. This species lives in association with streams and waterfalls within moist lowland forests. In Thai, it has two common names: Marbled Tenasserim Frog (กบลายหินตะนาวศรี) and Panha's Marbled Frog (กบลายหินปัญหา). The specific epithet of this species honors Prof. Dr. Somsak Panha, a Thai herpetologist, invertebrate biologist, and malacologist. Panha is a professor at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, and a key figure in Thailand's herpetology and malacology fields.
