About Ammospiza nelsoni (J.A.Allen, 1875)

This species, scientifically named Ammospiza nelsoni (J.A.Allen, 1875), has the following physical measurements: length ranges from 4.3โ€“5.1 in (11โ€“13 cm), weight ranges from 0.6โ€“0.7 oz (17โ€“21 g), and wingspan ranges from 6.5โ€“7.9 in (16.5โ€“20 cm). Adult individuals have brownish upperparts with gray coloring on the crown and nape. Their breast is cream-colored, with light or indistinct streaking, and their throat and belly are white. Adults have an orange face with gray cheeks, and a short pointed tail. This species' breeding habitat includes marshes in specific regions: the Atlantic coast of Canada and Maine, central Canada (the Canadian Prairies region and a coastal strip on the south of Hudson Bay), and the north-central United States.
