Ammoselinum butleri (Engelm.) J.M.Coult. & Rose is a small annual plant. It typically grows no taller than 5 cm (2.0 inches), and only rarely reaches up to 12 cm (4.7 inches) in height. Its leaves are decompound, divided into small linear segments. It blooms in spring, producing small umbels of flowers that grow from the axils of its stem leaves. Compared to the closely related Ammoselinum popei, the fruits of Ammoselinum butleri are nearly smooth.
