About Ammannia robusta Heer ex Regel

Ammannia robusta, with the full scientific name Ammannia robusta Heer ex Regel, is an annual herb that grows in moist locations including ditches and pond margins. When it grows erect, it can reach a maximum height of 100 cm. Its leaves are linear to lance-shaped, growing up to 8 cm (3 inches) long. Both the leaves and stem range in color from green to red. Inflorescences form as clusters of up to five flowers that grow in the leaf axils. The flowers are urn-shaped, bearing light lavender petals around 5 mm long, along with protruding stamens that hold yellow anthers. Its fruit is a spherical capsule around 5 mm wide that holds several tiny seeds.
