About Amblyopappus pusillus Hook. & Arn.
Amblyopappus is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family (Asteraceae), which was formally described as a genus in 1841. Only one species in this genus is currently known: Amblyopappus pusillus, which has the common name dwarf coastweed. This species is native to Baja California in Mexico and the coast of Southern California in the United States. It can also be found growing along the west coast of Chile and Peru in South America. Amblyopappus pusillus is an aromatic annual herb that produces an erect stem that can reach up to 40 centimeters in height. As the stem ages, it turns dark red. The plant is covered in narrow, fleshy leaves. Each small stem branch is topped with an inflorescence holding one to several rounded, bud-like yellow flowers. The bracts of the inflorescence are green, and they often have reddish edges.
