The orange-winged amazon, scientifically named Amazona amazonica (Linnaeus, 1766), is a primarily green parrot. It measures approximately 33 cm (13 in) in length and weighs around 340 g. Blue and yellow feathers appear on its head, and the extent of this coloration varies between individual birds. Its upper mandible is partially horn-colored (gray) and partially dark gray. Orange feathers are present on its wings and tail, and these feathers are visible when the parrot is in flight. Males and females have identical external appearance.
