About Amanita spreta (Peck) Sacc.
Amanita spreta is most often identified by its key distinguishing features. It has a grayish brown cap marked with dark radial streaks, and grows to a medium or large size. It bears a ring on the upper part of its stem. The stem base is not noticeably swollen, and has a white, sacklike volva. Its ellipsoid, inamyloid spores also help distinguish this species from related fungi.
