About Amanita marmorata (Cleland & E.-J.Gilbert) E.-J.Gilbert
Amanita marmorata (Cleland & E.-J.Gilbert) E.-J.Gilbert is a species of the Amanita genus that can be found in Denmark and South Australia. It is most commonly known by the common name marbled death cap. Its name comes from two sources: the marbling pattern visible on its pileus, and its close relation to Amanita phalloides. All parts of this mushroom, including the cap, gills, stipe, and spores, are poisonous. The species contains amatoxins, which are deadly to humans. Amanita marmorata may produce a strong odor, which can change from mild to pungent as it ages.
