About Amanita constricta Thiers & Ammirati
Amanita constricta, scientifically classified as Amanita constricta Thiers & Ammirati, is a mushroom species with a brown cap that measures 5โ15 centimetres (2โ6 inches) across. Its stipe grows 8โ15 cm (3+1โ4โ6 in) tall and 1โ2.5 cm (1โ2โ1 in) wide. A defining feature of this species is a volva that adheres tightly to the stipe. Amanita inaurata is a close relative of Amanita constricta. This species forms mycorrhizal associations, and grows under oak and Douglas-fir trees. It was first formally described from specimens collected in California, though its known range may extend northward into Canada.
