About Amanita constricta Thiers & Ammirati
Amanita constricta, scientifically classified as Amanita constricta Thiers & Ammirati, is a mushroom species with a brown cap that measures 5–15 centimetres (2–6 inches) across. Its stipe grows 8–15 cm (3+1⁄4–6 in) tall and 1–2.5 cm (1⁄2–1 in) wide. A defining feature of this species is a volva that adheres tightly to the stipe. Amanita inaurata is a close relative of Amanita constricta. This species forms mycorrhizal associations, and grows under oak and Douglas-fir trees. It was first formally described from specimens collected in California, though its known range may extend northward into Canada.
