About Alurnus ornatus Baly, 1869
Alurnus ornatus is a species of beetle belonging to the family Chrysomelidae. Adults of this species reach a body length between 19 and 27 millimeters. It is distributed in Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panamá. In adult individuals, the head, antennae, scutellum, legs, and venter are black. The pronotum is red, with black margins along its apical and basal ends. The elytra are mostly yellow, with black spots and entirely black apical quarters. Adult Alurnus ornatus have been collected from Chamaedorea palms.
