Aloysia virgata (Ruiz & Pav.) Juss. is a large shrubby bush that grows to around 8 to 15 feet tall and approximately 8 feet wide, and it produces many small white flowers. In cultivation, this plant is popular for its sweet almond fragrance, and it attracts both butterflies and hummingbirds. It was selected as one of the 2008 Florida Plants of the Year by the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscapers Association. It can be grown in USDA zones 7 to 9. This plant can be propagated through vegetative reproduction, and propagation by layering may also be possible.
