About Alosterna tabacicolor (Degeer, 1775)
Alosterna tabacicolor is a species of longhorn beetle with a scientific name of Alosterna tabacicolor (Degeer, 1775). Adults of this species reach a body length of approximately 6 to 10 millimeters (0.24 to 0.39 inches). Individuals are graceful, slender longhorn beetles. The head, pronotum, and upper portion of the elytra are dark-colored, while the rest of the elytra are brown-yellow, with darkened side edges. The pronotum is longer than it is wide, and its sides curve inward to form a concave shape. The elytra are covered in fine hairs. The legs are brown-yellow, and dark coloring at the tips of the thighs is rare. This species is distributed across the Palearctic realm. In Europe, it can be found in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. In Asia, it occurs in Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, North Korea, and Turkey. These beetles inhabit areas from low plains to lower mountain ranges, and are especially common in forests. In the southern Alps, they can also be found at higher elevations.
