About Aloe peglerae Schönland

Commonly known as the fez aloe, Aloe peglerae Schönland is typically 30–40 cm in both diameter and height. Its glaucous leaves are strongly incurved, forming a compact, spherical rosette. Inflorescences appear in July and August; they usually form a single 30–40 cm tall cylindrical spike, and are occasionally forked. The visible portions of the plant’s filaments are a deep purple colour. This species is endemic to South Africa, occurring only in Gauteng and the North West Province. Within this limited range, it grows naturally only along the northern dip slopes of the Magaliesberg, and the Witwatersberg — the range that lies just south and parallel to the Magaliesberg.
