The Tukeit Hill frog, scientifically named Allophryne ruthveni Gaige, 1926, is a small frog with variable colouration. It can be black with golden or dull yellow stripes and spots, or it can have a dull yellow or golden ventral surface with black stripes and spots. It has a flat body and a small, flat head, and it possesses a single submandibular vocal sac. Its toe pads are enlarged, and wider than its finger pads, and its tympanum is visible. This frog is superficially similar to tree frogs, but the ends of its phalanges have a different shape.
