Allograpta piurana, formally named Allograpta piurana Shannon, 1927, was first described by Shannon in 1927. The original description was based on a single female specimen collected from the Department of Piura, Peru. This species belongs to the Allograpta obliqua species group. It has been recorded to occur in both Chile and Peru. Its habitat spans from inland valleys to highland ecosystems.
