About Allium polyrhizum Turcz. ex Regel

Allium polyrhizum, or Allium polyrhizum Turcz. ex Regel, is a species of wild onion. It is widespread across Zabaykalsky Krai, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. In China, it grows in Gansu, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Xinjiang, at elevations between 1000 m and 3700 m. This species forms clumps that contain many narrowly cylindrical bulbs; each bulb is generally less than 10 cm in diameter. Its scape can grow up to 30 cm long and is round in cross-section. The leaves are tubular, less than 1 cm across, and shorter than the scape. It produces a hemispheric umbel that holds many densely packed flowers. Its tepals are usually pink or purple, but are occasionally white; all tepals of this species have a green midvein.
