About Allium nevii S.Watson

Allium nevii S.Watson produces egg-shaped bulbs up to 2 centimeters across. One individual plant typically has 1 to 3 scapes; each scape is round or slightly flattened, and grows up to 25 centimeters tall. It has two basal leaves, one leafless scape, and a cluster of flowers at the tip of the scape. Flowers form umbels that can hold up to 30 flowers. Each flower is bell-shaped and around 7 millimeters across. There are six tepals, which are narrowly lanceolate with pointed tips. Tepals are usually rose-colored (pink), and very rarely white. The anthers and pollen of this species are blue. The inner bulb coats range in color from reddish to white, while the outer bulb coats are gray or brown. The outer bulb's thin membrane has a distinctive network pattern. This plant blooms between May and June.
