About Alinda biplicata (Montagu, 1803)

Alinda biplicata (Montagu, 1803) is a species of snail. Like all members of its family, this snail possesses a clausilium. This spoon-shaped 'door' is supported by and slides within a series of folds inside the snail's shell. The average weight of an adult live Alinda biplicata is 149 milligrams, with a standard deviation of 6 milligrams. This species occurs across multiple European countries and islands. It is rare in Great Britain. In England, it is primarily found in the London region, almost entirely along the River Thames, with a particularly well-preserved population at Isleworth Ait. There is also an established colony of this species at Purfleet, Essex.
