About Aliculastrum cylindricum (Helbling, 1779)

This species is currently classified as Aliculastrum cylindricum (Helbling, 1779), and was previously described under the name Bulla elongata. The maximum recorded length of its shell is 25.7 millimetres (1.01 inches). The shell has a subcylindrical shape that tapers toward its anterior end. Its surface is white, slightly translucent, and glossy. Transverse striations are present at both the anterior and posterior ends of the shell, while the central area is polished and smooth. The outer lip is prominently twisted and extended at the posterior end. The inner lip is somewhat flattened toward the anterior end, with a subtle fold. This is a widespread marine species, distributed across the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Red Sea, and waters off the coast of Australia.
