About Aliciella latifolia (S.Watson) J.M.Porter

Aliciella latifolia, previously classified under the name Gilia latifolia, is commonly called broad-leaved gilia. This species is a foul-smelling annual plant that belongs to the phlox family, Polemoniaceae. It grows in desert regions of the southwestern United States, specifically occurring in the eastern and northern parts of the Mojave Desert, as well as the Colorado Desert. It is a common plant in desert dry washes and on rocky hillsides at elevations below 2,000 feet. It also grows in creosote bush scrub habitat, particularly in areas that have desert varnish.
