About Aleurites rockinghamensis (Baill.) P.I.Forst.

Aleurites rockinghamensis, commonly called candlenut, is a flowering tree belonging to the spurge family Euphorbiaceae. It is found in northeastern Australia and also occurs in Papua New Guinea. French botanist Henri Ernest Baillon first formally described this taxon in 1866, publishing it as a variety of Aleurites moluccanus under the name Aleurites moluccanus var. rockinghamensis. Australian botanist Paul Irwin Forster later raised this taxon to the status of a distinct full species in 1996, giving it the currently accepted scientific name Aleurites rockinghamensis (Baill.) P.I.Forst. The type specimen of this species was collected at Rockingham Bay, Queensland.
