Aletris lutea, commonly called Yellow colic-root, is a plant species native to the southeastern United States, where its range stretches from Louisiana to Georgia. It grows in wet habitats, most commonly in seasonally flooded pine forests located near the coast. This species is a perennial herb that can reach up to 100 centimeters in height. It produces a long spike of small, cylindrical flowers; flowers are most often yellow, though they are sometimes white.
