About Aletris bracteata Northr.

Aletris bracteata, commonly called bracted colicroot, is a plant species. It is native to southern Florida (Monroe and Miami-Dade Counties) and the Bahamas (Andros and Abaco Islands). It grows in the Everglades and other wet habitats located very close to sea level. This species has been observed to hybridize with the yellow-flowered species A. lutea. Aletris bracteata is a perennial herb that can reach up to 60 cm in height, and spreads via underground rhizomes. Its flowers are white, and measure roughly 7 mm in length.
