Alectryon diversifolius grows as a shrub that reaches up to 4 meters in height. Its simple leaves are often clustered on short branchlets. Leaf shape is highly variable even on individual plants, ranging from oval to lanceolate, and can also be strongly serrated and holly-like. This species occurs in central and south-eastern Queensland, and north-eastern New South Wales. It usually grows in Brigalow scrub on dark clay soil.
