About Agonoscelis rutila

Agonoscelis rutila, commonly known as the horehound bug, is a species of stink bug that feeds by sucking sap from the horehound plant. This feeding activity causes new shoots of the plant to wilt. During its development, the horehound bug goes through five distinct nymphal stages. While horehound is its most common host plant, the bugs may also swarm on a range of other trees and shrubs.
