About Agonopterix atrodorsella Clemens, 1863
Agonopterix atrodorsella, first described by Clemens in 1863, has a wingspan ranging from 18 to 23 millimeters. Its forewings are yellow ochreous, marked with several black dots along the costal edge that run from the base to the tip of the wing. A single black dot sits on the basal portion of the disc, with a rufous patch located just beyond this dot. The species' hindwings are yellowish in color. Adult Agonopterix atrodorsella have been recorded in every month of the year, with the flight period varying based on collection locality. Despite this, the species only produces one generation each year. The larvae of Agonopterix atrodorsella feed on plants in the Eupatorium and Coreopsis genera, as well as the specific species Bidens frondosa and Myrica asplenifolia. This moth species overwinters in the adult life stage.
