About Aglossa caprealis (Hübner)

Aglossa caprealis, commonly known as the stored grain moth, is a moth species that belongs to the family Pyralidae. It can be found across the globe. However, like other species in the Aglossa genus, its native range is thought to be the western Palearctic or nearby areas. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 23 to 27 mm. Adults fly between June and August, with flight timing varying based on location. The larvae of Aglossa caprealis feed on dry plant waste, grain such as maize, hay, straw, and decaying manure. Occasionally, the larvae will also consume animal carcasses, suet, lard, pork rinds, and other fatty materials.
