Agathis microstachya is a large conifer with a restricted range on Queensland's Atherton Tableland, identifiable by its coarse flaky bark and parallel-veined leaves.

About Agathis microstachya J.F.Bailey & C.T.White

Agathis microstachya J.F.Bailey & C.T.White can grow up to around 50 m (160 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter reaching 2.7 m (8 ft 10 in). Its trunk is unbuttressed, straight, and shows very little taper. Distinctive characteristics of this species include coarse, flaky bark, medium-sized cones that bear 160 to 210 scales, and leaves that have many parallel longitudinal veins. This species has an extremely limited distribution. It is almost entirely restricted to the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, and grows at elevations between 400โ€“900 m (1,300โ€“3,000 ft) above sea level.
