About Agapornis pullarius (Linnaeus, 1758)

The red-headed lovebird (Agapornis pullarius (Linnaeus, 1758)) is a mostly green parrot that measures 15 cm (6 inches) in length. It has a clearly defined red area on its head that stretches from the tip of the beak, across the forehead to the middle of the crown, and extends left and right up to the edges of the eyelids. This species has grey feet, and the underside of its wings is a lighter shade of green. Female red-headed lovebirds have orange head colouring, which is less clearly defined than the male’s red head. Adult males have a red beak, while the female’s beak is a paler shade of red. The red-headed lovebird has a patchy distribution across the African tropical rainforest.
