The yellow-collared lovebird, scientifically named Agapornis personatus Reichenow, 1887, is a small parrot that reaches approximately 14.5 cm (5.5 in) in total length, and its plumage is primarily green. Its upperparts are a darker shade of green than its lower body surfaces. This species has a black head, a bright red beak with white markings just above the beak, and white rings around the eyes. The yellow coloring on its breast connects seamlessly to a yellow collar, and this yellow color also extends over the nape of the neck. Male and female yellow-collared lovebirds have identical external appearances.
