It measures 13 cm (5 inches) in length and weighs approximately 30 to 36 grams. This species has pale grey beaks and feet, and it is sexually dimorphic. The adult female is entirely green, with a dark green back and wings, a bright green rump, and a paler green chest. The adult male has a similar color pattern, except its entire head and upper chest are pale grey.
