About Agama kirkii Boulenger, 1885

Adults of Agama kirkii usually have a total length of 20 to 28 centimeters (7.9 to 11.0 inches), with the long tail making up 60 to 70% of this total length. The maximum recorded total length for the species is 30 centimeters (12 inches). When displaying, males of this species have an orange head and a blue body. Breeding females have a turquoise head and a yellowish gray body. Agama kirkii is distributed across Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its preferred natural habitat is rocky savanna areas. This species is oviparous, with an average clutch size of ten eggs. The average total length including the tail of each newly hatched Agama kirkii is 6.5 centimeters (2.6 inches).
