About Aethopyga christinae Swinhoe, 1869
The fork-tailed sunbird, Aethopyga christinae, is a species of bird in the Nectariniidae family. Robert Swinhoe first formally described this species in 1869. It can be found in China, Hong Kong, Laos, and Vietnam. Its native natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. These are small birds with decurved bills. They produce a frequent soft "zwink-zwink" call, as well as a metallic trill. The fork-tailed sunbird appears on Hong Kong's most commonly used postal stamp.
