About Aelia acuminata (Linnaeus, 1758)
Aelia acuminata (Linnaeus, 1758) can reach a body length of 5 to 9 millimetres (0.20 to 0.35 inches). These bugs have a slightly elongated body and a pointed head, which is the source of the species name acuminata. The basic body color is light brown, marked with darker brown longitudinal patterns. Nymphs are already quite similar in appearance to adult Aelia acuminata, but they remain wingless. This species is found across most of Europe, North Africa, and Northern Asia, with the exception of China. These shield bugs primarily live in dry meadows and cereal fields. In the Alps, they occur up to around 1300 meters above sea level.
