About Aegithalos iouschistos (Blyth, 1845)
The rufous-fronted bushtit, with the scientific name Aegithalos iouschistos (Blyth, 1845), reaches 11 cm in total length. Adult individuals have grey upperparts and reddish-brown underparts. Their heads are reddish-buff, marked with a black mask, a silver bib with black streaks, and a black edge along the bib. Juvenile rufous-fronted bushtits are paler and duller in appearance than adult birds. The closely similar black-browed bushtit differs by having a white forehead, white belly, and a white edge to its bib. The white-throated bushtit differs by having a white forehead, a white bib, and a dark breastband. This species is distributed across the eastern and central Himalayas, where it can be found in Bhutan, China, India, and Nepal. It inhabits montane forests, including both broad-leaved and coniferous types, at elevations up to 3,600 m above sea level. It typically forages in flocks.
