About Adoxophyes orana (Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1834)

Adoxophyes orana, commonly known as the summer fruit tortrix, is a species of moth in the family Tortricidae. It is distributed in the Palearctic realm and Taiwan. Adult moths of this species have a wingspan ranging from 17 to 22 mm. The moths produce two generations per year, flying from May to November. The species' larvae spend the winter inside loosely woven cocoons. Larvae feed on a wide range of trees and shrubs, and they prefer plants from the Rosaceae family, especially the apple Malus domestica and the pear Prunus pyrifolia. Adoxophyes orana is classified as a pest, because larval feeding causes damage to fruit trees.
