About Adesmia microphylla Hook. & Arn.
Adesmia microphylla Hook. & Arn., commonly known as pahuen, is a common shrub that grows in the Coastal Chilean Matorral of Central Chile at elevations between 400 and 1000 meters above sea level. It typically grows in association with the species Proustia pungens and Lithraea caustica. This species has previously been merged into the taxon A. arborea, which also includes A. confusa Ulibarri, a distinctive plant that produces flowers on brachyblasts. In contrast, the flowers of Adesmia microphylla develop on spines. This species is used as livestock forage.
