About Adenomera hylaedactyla (Cope, 1868)
This is a small frog species. Adult males have a snout-vent length of 22 to 24 mm, while adult females measure 26 to 27 mm in snout-vent length. The skin on its dorsum is brown with numerous dark markings, and it has two distinct skin folds on each side of its body. Its belly and throat are white, and the lower surfaces and fronts of its hind legs are yellowish. The iris of its eye is bronze in color. This terrestrial species lives in open areas, including sites near rivers and agricultural clearings, and is most commonly associated with primary and secondary forests. It has been recorded at elevations ranging from 0 to 1,000 meters (0 to 3,281 feet) above sea level, and has been observed in protected areas. For reproduction, females lay their eggs in a foam nest located underground, where tadpoles complete their development feeding only on yolk from their yolk sac.
