About Adela septentrionella Walsingham, 1880

Adela septentrionella is a moth species belonging to the family Adelidae, commonly known as fairy longhorn moths. It was first described by Walsingham in 1880. This moth has a widespread distribution ranging from southern British Columbia and northwestern Idaho south to the Transverse Range in southern California. The forewings of adult individuals measure between 4.5 and 5.7 mm in length. Adult moths are active in flight from mid-April to mid-July. The larvae of this species feed on the buds of Holodiscus discolor. Pupation occurs in late March or April.
