About Actinidia rufa (Siebold & Zucc.) Planch. ex Miq.

Actinidia rufa (Siebold & Zucc.) Planch. ex Miq. is a flowering plant species belonging to Actinidiaceae, the Chinese gooseberry family. It is native to Taiwan, several southwestern South Korean islands, the Ryukyu Islands, and southern and south-central Japan. This species is a large climbing shrub that grows in mountain forests at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 meters (3,300 to 6,600 feet). As a wild crop relative of kiwifruit, it is currently being studied for its resistance to frost and bacterial canker of kiwifruit.
