About Actenoides concretus (Temminck, 1825)
The rufous-collared kingfisher, with the scientific name Actenoides concretus, is a species of bird belonging to the Alcedinidae family. It is distributed in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and it is currently threatened by habitat loss. This is a medium-sized kingfisher, measuring 22–25.5 cm (8.7–10.0 inches) in length and weighing approximately 60–90 grams (2.1–3.2 ounces). Its upperparts are mostly blue-green, with yellow spots on the back. It has a green crown and a black eye mask. Despite being called the rufous-collared kingfisher, some individuals do not have the characteristic rufous breast band. These individuals instead have fully rufous underparts.
