About Acrothinium gaschkevitchii (Motschulsky, 1860)

Acrothinium gaschkevitchii has a shiny metallic appearance, with sparse setae covering its back. The nominate subspecies, A. g. gaschkevitchii, has a green pronotum, and elytra that range from golden red to copper in color, with green coloring along the elytral margins. The remaining subspecies have distinct color patterns: A. g. tokaraense is generally golden green overall, and only rarely bright coppery; A. g. matsuii has a green head with bluish tinges, a greenish violet-blue pronotum with a greenish blue front edge, and greenish violet elytra with violet coloring along their base and side margins; A. g. shirakii has metallic green head and pronotum, with the area between the eyes and the sides of the pronotum bluish or violet-colored, and elytra that are golden or coppery green with violet coloring at their margins.
