About Acroteriobatus annulatus (Müller & Henle, 1841)

This sand shark, scientifically named Acroteriobatus annulatus (Müller & Henle, 1841), grows to a maximum length of 141 cm. It has a flat, triangular snout with nearly translucent areas on both sides. The upper surface of its body is pale cream, marked with dark rings that surround dark spots. Its underside is white, and its dorsal fins are positioned far back along the tail. This shark inhabits sandy plains. It has been recorded in Angola, Namibia, and South Africa, and may also occur in Mozambique. Its natural habitats are shallow seas and estuarine waters.
