Scientific name: Acropteris ciniferaria (Walker, 1866)

The adult moth’s wings are typically white with a creamy tinge, with pale brown markings. The fasciae on the forewing are diffuse and obscure. The angle of the hindwing is characterized by a black fleck, with smaller flecks on either side. The caterpillar is fusiform, or spindle shaped, with a round and narrow head. Its body is translucent green with a dark dorsal line. The caterpillar’s body skin has a polished, glossy appearance, with setae growing on tubercles. The pupa is claviform, and its cremaster contains a pair of hooked shafts. Pupation takes place inside a cocoon located on the upper surface of a leaf. The known host plant for this species is a member of the Stephanotis genus, which has the synonym Dregea.
